Capturing night scenes in watercolor poses a number of unique challenges for the watercolor artist. Because we are used to painting light to dark with one transparent layer over the next, which is the reverse of most other mediums, it becomes an awkward challenge to paint night scenes.  Unfortunately, watercolor is not ideally suited for capturing night scenes, but there are some techniques I have developed over the years that can make it a little easier.
