Watercolor Mastery Workshop "Quiet Winter Reflections"

A Serene Winter Landscape Filled with Light, Shadow, and Stillness

A peaceful winter scene inspired by one of my favorite spots in Yosemite - the old stone bridge that crosses the Merced River. It’s one of those places that naturally slows you down, especially in winter, with the soft snow settling into the trees and that quiet glow of morning light. It makes a perfect subject for watercolor this time of year.

This is a relaxed, two-day workshop (three hours each day). We’ll take our time working through the whole painting together, from the first big washes that set the mood, to the final touches that give a winter landscape its magic. If you enjoy working with warm and cool neutrals, soft reflections, and gentle atmosphere, I think you’ll really enjoy this one.

Perfect for All Levels of Artists!

This workshop is designed to welcome both beginning and experienced watercolorists. If you’re newer to watercolor painting, you’ll be guided through a clear and encouraging step-by-step process. If you’re more advanced, you’ll appreciate the nuanced instruction on layering, movement, and artistic expression.

You’ll paint along in real time, with direct guidance. By the end of the day, you’ll have not only a finished painting, but a deeper understanding of the methods behind the process.

What You’ll Learn in the Quiet Winter Reflections Workshop:

How to create believable snow using soft edges, gentle transitions, and subtle temperature shifts.

A clear method for painting winter light that feels crisp, quiet, and natural without overworking the scene.

Strategies for using neutrals effectively, giving your painting depth, atmosphere, and harmony.

How to design compelling winter shadows that guide the viewer’s eye and strengthen your composition.

A step-by-step approach to building large, expressive washes that set the mood early in the painting.

Tips for handling reflections in calm water, keeping them soft, simple, and convincing.

A repeatable process for planning winter landscapes, from value sketches to final accents, that you can use for any snowy scene.

Telling a story with landscape - go beyond copying a scene to evoke emotion, nostalgia, and the quiet ambiance of nature.

And so much more!

This digital workshop is going to help you make a quantum leap in your watercolor painting abilities!

This is definitely a Watercolor Mastery Workshop you will not want to miss.
